Everybody has their own ‘go – to’ place when the sun is shining and you don’t have to work (well I do anyway). For me mine is Bedruthan Steps. If you follow me on my socials (@abigailhobbsphotography on Instagram/Facebook – cheeky self plug) then you will know that Bedruthan Steps is where you will find me most of the time on my days off.
I got a National Trust membership at the beginning of this year and it was one of the best things I’ve ever signed up for! Access to some of the most beautiful parts of the UK as well as stately homes AND free parking – it’s worth it just for the free parking you can get in some places!
That being said, you don’t have to be a member of the National Trust to go there.
I always park in the Carnewas Car Park and then walk along the coast path along Bedruthan Steps. During the day and peak season there is a National Trust warden there to 1. Welcome you and 2. check your passes and give you any information if needed. The view of the steps can be seen literally 100 metres from the car park so it’s not too far to walk and they also make it as accessible as possible for wheelchair users with a special route marked out for wheelchairs. That being said you would need a really sturdy wheelchair to get over the natural bumps in the landscape and there is only so far you can go with a wheelchair/pushchair.

Having been to Bedruthan numerous times only last weekend did we decide to actually walk along the coast path… ridiculous considering we have been so many times. We always took the same route and then climbed down the stairs (about 150 of the steepest steps ever) to then walk along the beach.
This time we wanted to make a day of it and so we assessed the maps and came up with a route… basically we took the route that was visible on the map!

It was great walking further then we had before and seeing my favourite place in all its glory from a different angle. Do not always walk your normal route – we spent about 2.5 hours here exploring more of Bedruthan then we ever had before.

Whether you’re on holiday or local, Bedruthan is great because it really isn’t that far from Newquay aka tourist central! The postcode for the car park if you do decide to go there is:
PL27 7UW
